Receiving a ticket for defective equipment is a pretty common occurrence in the State of Washington. There are several defective equipment violations listed in the Revised Code of Washington. Some examples of defective equipment would be, cracked windshield, tail light burned out, headlight burned out, brake light burned out.
It is important to know that each equipment violation could appear on your driving record. These violations could have a negative impact on your driving record, which could cause an increase in your automobile insurance rates. Parking violations, equipment violations or paperwork violations relating to insurance, registration, licensing, and inspection according the WAC 308-104-160 are considered “nonmoving violations”. Nonmoving violations, could a have a less impact on your driving record, however they still could create an increase in your automobile insurance rates.
