Alisa, who works in Rick’s office, was a passenger a few weeks ago when Keith, the driver, was pulled over by a Washington State Patrolman. Keith was issued a speeding ticket for going 21 mph over the speed limit, and after getting the citation Keith gave Alisa a little insight on how he was feeling while he was being pulled over...
You Got Caught
When you are being pulled over by an officer, there is always this nervous feeling that comes over you. Almost like when you were 8 years old and you are being caught doing something bad by your parents. As the officer approaches the side of the car, you make sure that you have all of your documents in order, license, registration, and your proof of insurance. Keith had the advantage of having Alisa with him in the truck so she was able to get all the documents together and Keith was able to present them to the officer.
Keith unrolled the window, and the officer asked him why he was in such a hurry and where he was going. Keith said he was on his way to a baseball tournament in Pullman, and didn’t realize that he was speeding since he had his cruise control set. The officer stated that Keith was travelling 81 mph. Keith was shocked, and said he thought he had his cruise set at 75 and that the speed limit was 70 mph. The officer stated that the speed limit was actually 60 mph, and then asked Keith for his license, registration, and proof of insurance.
The Waiting Game
As Keith waited patiently in the truck for the officer to return with his documents, he mentioned to Alisa that he was not as nervous as he had been in the past when pulled over by an officer. The officer approached the window and handed Keith his documents as well as the traffic infraction. Keith was cited for going 21 mph over the speed limit. The officer told Keith to slow down, and to have a nice day.
Rick is in Your Corner
As Keith and Alisa pulled away from the officer, Keith stated that he was so much more relaxed knowing that he has Rick on his side. Keith knows that Rick will be able to help him with the ticket and that being pulled over knowing that he has someone in his corner makes the entire stop a lot less stressful.
So overall what we take away from the experience, is to pay attention to speed limit signs, maybe don’t trust your cruise control completely, and if you happen to get pulled over, know that Rick is on your side and can help you fight the ticket and help protect your driving record.
